Once upon a time in Pumpkin Land, there was a farmer who planted pumpkins with special seeds in the spring. There were pumpkin seeds for little ones and seeds for large ones. One of the pumpkins was extra special, although the farmer did not know it. Inside this special pumpkin was a plan put in it long ago. The pumpkin was going to be the very biggest pumpkin!

The author, Mary Jane Watson, is married to Reverend Harold E. Watson and she graduated from Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia in 1969 with BA degree in Elementary Education. She met her husband in Kansas City, Missouri in 1977 in a singles adult bible study class. The Lord God moved her 1,500 miles from the D.C. area in 1976 to meet him. Her job with the U.S. Parole Commission moved to Kansas City in 1974. Recently they celebrated 39 years of marriage. Mrs. Watson began writing haiku poetry or cinquain poetry in the Fall of 1993 for a bible study course. Out of that course came Jonah and the Big Fish Dinner:, Esau and Jacob and 3 other biblically based poems. When she retired from the federal government (U.S. Parole Commission) in 1995, this gave her more time to write. Four poems in Treasures of the Heart were Editors Choice Awards published by the National Library of Poetry. A distinguished member of the International Society of Poets, she was nominated as an International Poet of Merit in 1995. She has continued to write stories of her life and other poems. A Pumpkin Story is found in Treasures of the Heart. She participates in the church choir and until recently the bell ringers choir. She helps to make quilts for the Truman East care facility and hospital. She has her own network marketing business, Open Door Enterprises.
