"Two naked boys of identical appearance come forward, one of them has a knife in his hand, the other has a camera, in the center of which is a real eye, a knife in the heart, a knife in the lung, a knife in the navel. The murdered person falls on the bathroom floor." The short story collection "A Personal Portrait of Death," consisting of nine stories, in which the narrator moves between dark imaginary worlds within himself, worlds composed of red or green rooms, with fragrant or putrid smells. In it, the narrator moves between childhood and adulthood, and is preoccupied with questions about the truth: about the truth of the paths. Stories have a narrative sense that tends toward poetic writing, in which the storyteller tells stories of multiple entities. Sometimes the voice of divine narration imbues the story, sometimes the voice of the writer, and sometimes the voice of death. The collection is the first by its author, "Islam Ahmed," and is characterized by a cinematic vision, in addition to the sketches of the young painter, "Mahmoud Suleiman," which added a flavor of brutality and darkness to the soul.
