Autorenporträt
Adrian John Hoare is a retired local government officer and former Chartered Town Planner. He lives in the village of Hildenborough, near Tonbridge, in Kent, England with his wife, Theresa.

My novel is based on the life of William Reynolds who entered this world on the island of Malta in August 1842. It is a poignant yarn and one which I have fashioned from the content of a small collection of letters which came my way during the 1960s. I believe I was eighteen years of age when my late father handed me a bundle of old family missives, four of which had been penned by the said William Reynolds during the year 1865. I recall setting about reading them with some enthusiasm.
