Autorenporträt
Dr. Ibrahim M. Eltorai completed his medical education at Cairo University in Egypt and then completed postgraduate training in Neurosurgery and Cardiovascular surgery at multiple European institutions. He joined the faculty of the school of medicine at Cairo University and became Professor of Surgery. He had nearly 150 publications in Egyptian and International medical journals. When he moved to the United States, he joined the Spinal Cord Injury Service at the Long Beach V.A. Medical Center, where he has worked for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2004.

Dr. Eltorai published numerous clinical articles in the field of Spinal Cord Injury and edited the book: "Emergencies in Chronic Spinal Cord Injury Patients" and is the author of the book: "Rare Diseases and Syndromes of the Spinal Cord". He was a founding member and President of the American Paraplegia Society, as well as a Fellow of the International Spinal Cord Society. Dr. Eltorai's research on evolution of SCI medicine resulted in a comprehensive library, which is currently located at the Palo Alto V.A. Medical Center.
