Dr Ranjit Roy Chaudhury, MBBS, DPhil (Oxon), FRCP (Edin), held pivotal roles including Adviser to the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi, Representative and Chief of Mission of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Myanmar, and Dean and then Officiating Director of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. Renowned for his substantial contributions to national healthcare policy, medical research, education, and public health, he stood as a prominent figure in clinical pharmacology in India, advocating the judicious use of drugs. Dr Roy Chaudhury was the first Indian doctor to receive the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University.
