An enemy from his past threatens their future.

Years ago, Matthew Armistead lost his best friend to a notorious terrorist; now, he's lost his fiancee as well, a casualty of his return to Iraq for the final reckoning. Bringing the man to justice is a worthwhile goal- but is the price too high? Even if he succeeds, it won't bring her back to him.

Back at home, Colleen Flynn is wrestling with her decision to break off the engagement- was it wrong to expect him to stay with her? Was she willing to live without him? While she agonizes over him facing danger in a distant land, she has no idea her own life is threatened close to home. Even if she changes her mind about Matthew, it may be too late.

Autorenporträt
Annette Arsineau intended to be a criminologist, earning a degree in forensic science with a minor in psychology; it was in this field of study she first learned about introverts and extroverts, when she met the man who would eventually become her husband. Through his service in the military, she gained a deep appreciation of the dangers, the fear, and the loneliness faced by all military couples.

After her husband was injured on active duty, she began journaling to help cope with her fear and stress during his recovery; from this beginning, she began her first series, chronicling the aftermath of war and loss and the difficulty of making a transition to a new life.

Having successfully transitioned out of the military, Annette and her husband have started a new life in the Pacific Northwest, where they welcomed their first child.
