As a system that has served urban, rural, and suburban populations, the Baylor Health Care System (BHCS) is an excellent case study on quality improvement. BHCS has recently formalized its commitment to quality with the adoption of the STEEEP framework that supports the Institute of Medicine's call for care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered (STEEEP). Telling the story of quality improvement at BHCS, this Shingo Prize winning book presents contributions from senior leaders in diverse fields, including physician leadership, nursing leadership, and quality improvement.
