T.S. Srivatsan, Professor of Materials Science & Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Akron (OH, USA), earned his M.S. in Aerospace Engineering in 1981 and his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering in 1984 from Georgia Institute of Technology (USA). Dr. Srivatsan joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering faculty at The University of Akron in 1987. He has authored or edited 57 books, delivered over 200 technical presentations, and authored or co-authored more than 700 archival publications in journals, book chapters, book reviews, proceedings of conferences, and technical reports. He is a Fellow of (i) American Society for Materials International; (ii) American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and (iii) American Association for Advancement of Science. T.S. Sudarshan earned his B.Tech in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras), and completed his M.Sc and Ph.D in Materials Engineering Science from Virginia Tech (VA, USA). He is President and CEO of Materials Modification, Inc., which is at the forefront of research, development, and commercialization of advanced materials utilizing novel processing techniques. He is a Fellow of (i) American Society for Materials International; (ii) International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering; and (iii) Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He has also produced numerous papers [175+] in journals and edited books [30+].
