Produktbeschreibung
All-Optical communication is communication that uses light to carry information. It can be performed visually or by using electronic devices. The earliest basic forms of optical communication date back several millennia, while the earliest electrical device created to do so was the photophone, invented in 1880. All-optical communication plays an important role in major domains such as high-speed networks, photonic integrated circuits, health care, sensors, energy, and environmental applications. This book will provide an overview of the recent developments in all-optical communication technology, relevant and critical materials, and recent and emerging applications in various domains.

This book focuses on all-optical communication technology and applications in the most critical domains: microwaves, Meta surface, Optoelectronics, and photonic fibers. It provides insight to the readers about all-optical technology advancements, fabrication, challenges, applications, and future perspectives all-optics communication in real-time applications. It also discusses the use of photonic crystals in different all-optical communication applications. The book is divided into the following sections:

  1. Recent progress in all-optical communication including high-speed networks for effective data transmission, photonic crystal-based development of optical components such as splitters, encoders, decoders, and routers, and potential problems in obtaining the high-speed networks using the photonic integrated circuits technology.
  2. Novel materials used for the realizing the optical components such as LEDs, wide band gap photodiodes and photonic crystals based optical components.
  3. Emerging all-optical communication applications in healthcare, energy and environmental, underwater communication, and the energy crisis.
