Yi Liu received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in Automation and Control Engineering from the Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Mechatronic Engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 2016. From March 2016 to June 2016, he was Senior R & D Engineer with the Fourth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Wuhan, China. From July 2016 to October 2019, he was Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Electromagnetic Engineering and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where he has been Lecturer since January 2020. He is IEEE Senior Member, Vice-Chair for IEEE IES Wuhan Chapter, Associate Editor for the Industrial Automation and Control Committee (IACC) of IEEE IAS. Till now, Dr. Liu has published one monograph and more than 60 high-quality papers, held 20 granted invention patents. He has received one IEEE Prize Paper Award in 2020. His current research interests are mainly in multi-port electrical machines and drive systems. Dr. Liu has been invited to give tutorials for some academic conferences, e.g., 2019 IEEE International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS2019), 23rd China Power Supply Society Conference (CPSSC2019). And, he has organized special sessions on multi-port electrical machines for some conferences, e.g. ICEMS2019, ECCE Asia2020, ICEM2020 and IEEE-PEMC2020.
Prof. Dr Xu received the double B.E. degree from Tianjin University (TJU), China, in July 2002, and M.E. degree from TJU in March 2005, and the Ph.D. degree from Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEECAS), in July 2008, respectively, all in electrical engineering. Since October 2013, he has been appointed as one Full Professor with School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (SEEE), Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST), China. Now, he is the head for Center for Energy Conversion and System (CECS) in HUST. The research topics of Prof. Xu mainly focus on electromagnetic design and control algorithm of electrical machines and drive systems (linear machines, permanent magnet machines, brushless doubly-fed induction machines (BDFIMs), high-speed machines, etc.), DC/DC converters, back to back converters, and so on. Till now, some products developed by Prof. Xu and his group have successfully found wide practical applications, such as linear induction machine for subway or light railway, arc (linear) induction machine for direct-driven forge press, permanent magnet synchronous machine for electrical vehicle, brushless doubly-fed induction machine for electrical-driven ship, etc. Prof. Xu is IET Fellow (Institution of Engineering and Technology), IEEE Senior Member (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and also Senior Members for China Electrotechnical Society (CES), and China Power Supply Society (CPSS), since 2018, 2013, 2014, and 2017, respectively. Since 2016, Prof. Xu has served as Editors or Associate Editors for more than ten international or national leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (IEEE TIE, IF 7.5), IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (IEEE TVT, IF 5.4), etc. Till now, Prof. Xu has published more than 150 high-quality SCI-indexed International journal papers (about 130 published in IEEE Transactions-Series Journals) and held over 140 granted/pending invention patents, and has one monograph titled by Advanced Control Technologies for Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machine (China Machine Press, May 2020), and two edited books titled by Advances in Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants (Springer Press, June 2016) and Advanced Linear Induction Machine and Systems (Springer Press, August 2019), respectively. As the first chief investigator (CI), he has been awarded more than 30 projects/fellowships. For his continuous contribution in the field of linear machine and model predictive control, Prof. Xu has been elected to serve as General Chair for the 13th International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA 2021), and IEEE International Conference on Predictive Control of Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (PRECEDE 2023), in Wuhan, China, respectively.
