Produktbeschreibung
Nanomedicine has been one of the key research areas for diagnosing and curing cancer for about 30 years. Cancer nanomedicine using functional hybrid nanomaterials has been expected to provide new opportunities in early diagnosis, imaging and treatment of cancerous tumors. In preclinical settings, nanomedicine demonstrates very promising applications for cancer imaging and therapeutics. Currently used imaging techniques in combination with nanomedicine show some important properties for addressing key challenges in modern cancer therapy: (i) monitoring an active tumor-targeting mechanism of therapeutic drugs driven by a physical force, (ii) providing guidance for on-demand drug release mechanisms, and (iii) a capability for next-generation image-guided cancer therapy and therapy monitoring. Advances in nanomedicine provide functional nanomaterials that enable high tumor tissue imaging contrast effects during image-guided therapeutic procedures. Thus, the unique combination of imaging techniques and nanomedicine create a new opportunity of an image-guided cancer nanomedicine approach which can bypass the low tumor targeting and toxicity issues in advanced clinical settings. This book addresses the advances of next-generation medical imaging techniques coupled with nanomedicine, for image guidance, tumor detection, tumor tissue characterization, monitoring of drug targeting, and pre and post therapy monitoring of solid tumors. Furthermore, the book outlines the latest advances in detail by the ground of currently used cancer therapies and nanomedicine synergy, for patient-specific therapeutic dosimetry and tumor-specific treatment of cancers. Eventually, this new-generation image-guided cancer nanomedicine has shown to superior therapeutic effect in a personalized manner without major complications, faster recoveries, and low treatment cost.
