"Al-Muqabasat" is a distinguished book of philosophical literature, and it is one of the most important books written by the Arab philosopher and writer "Abu Hayyan Al-Tawhidi", who chose a strange title for his book, which is "Al-Muqabasat". The word is derived from the verb "qabas", which includes a plug of fire, and in metaphor. "He extracted knowledge from him, meaning he benefited, and the meaning of the intercourse is that two or more people participate in a scientific or philosophical dialogue, so one of them extracts knowledge and knowledge from the other, and gives him what he has of it. Scholars see that Al-Tawhidi has gone beyond this definition, so the content of the book is no longer interpolations that take place between two parties. Rather, dialogues, opinions, selections, articles, and lectures, joined together without any order, formed the material of the book. Al-Tawhidi wrote this book, in the last stage of his life, that is, after the vizier Abu Abdullah Al-Aridh left the vizier of Ibn Adad al-Dawla al-Buwaihi, with whom Samer al-Tawhidi debated literary, philosophical, scientific, and linguistic topics, which were contained in the book "Enjoyment and Sociability." In his book, Al-Tawhidi records the philosophical debates that he heard himself, and those sessions that were held by a group of scholars mentioned in the book, and each one of them was one of the notables of that era. It seems that those sessions were sometimes dominated by chaos, with multiple sides of speech, and no The logical sequence in discussions, and wordplay prevails over precision in philosophical expression.
