Moore explores a world of femininity and abuse in this brave collection. Travelling between childhood and adult life, she documents the honest reality of living with a woman's body in a world that at times makes her miss the 'easy misogyny' of an office setting. Comparing her femininity to water Moore uncovers the flexibility that she is forced to perform throughout as she reflects on her previous experience in volatile situations: discussing and experiencing shame, victim-blaming, resentment and guilt. The collection gracefully flies through the experiences of relationships and how her trauma manifests as different animals inside her. Autorenporträt

Kim Moore was born in 1981 and lives and works in Cumbria. Her first full length collection¿(Seren) The Art of Falling won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize. She also won a New Writing North Award in 2014, an Eric Gregory Award in 2011 and the Geoffrey Dearmer Prize in 2012. In 2020 she was chosen as a judge for the National Poetry Competition and the Forward prizes. She is part of Versopolis, a European-funded scheme to promote poets at festivals across Europe and her work as been translated into several languages. She has a doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University in Poetry and Everyday Sexism and is co-director of the Kendal Poetry Festival.
