Dr. Hickman is a Board Certified Family Practice Physician and a chaplain. She practices medicine by the motto, "God is the Healer and I only practice medicine." She has been in medical practice for nearly two decades. She is a guest blogger and spokesperson for the American Heart Association. She is a frequent guest on radio and television programming for Ask The Doctor segments. Her prior book, Fountain in the Valley integrates the physical and spiritual aspects of medicine and was featured on the television program Talk of Alabama. She has hosted her own internet based call in radio show, What Up Doc?. Dr. Hickman is a sought after speaker regarding physical and spiritual matters. She was voted by Birmingham's area NAACP a WOW (Wonderful Oustanding Woman) of the year in medicine. Dr. Hickman was also voted one of Birmingham's most caring and compassionate doctors and the doctor of the year 2015 by her area Chamber of Commerce.
