This is the second volume of a story of huge effort, ideas, sweat and tears; it tells of reputations won and lost, and a new technology - turbocharging. The cars, some of the most evocative ever seen, are described in detail - stunningly, creative, slippery aerodynamic designs that achieved many outright victories in championship racing. The long struggle to develop the V6 Turbo engines is depicted, along with the intense pressure put upon the Renault Sport team by the Renault company.

Autorenporträt
Roy Smith is a retired company director who has a life-long passion for motorsport, and, since 1968, Alpine Renault in particular. He began writing in the 1960s for club magazines, mainly interviews with the notables of the time.
A 40-year business career in sales and marketing developed an attention for detail that was required for the preparation of this work about the Alpine Sports Prototypes and his previous book about the development of the Renault Turbo Formula 1 cars
He likes to provide a good read to newcomers and hardened enthusiasts alike. He has written many motor sport and Alpine-related articles since 1989 for various magazines, and is the UK historic correspondent for the French magazine Retro Passion and the Alpine Renault magazine, Mille Miles. His next work will be entitled Amedee Gordini - a true racing legend.
