"China Weekly Review" editor John William Powell and his staff reflected growing disillusionment with Guomindang corruption and ineptitude. As civil war shifted in favor of the Communists in 1948, the "review" counseled American businessmen to stay put, and worked for Sino-American understanding and diplomatic relations. The "Review" supported charges that U.S. forces used Bacteriological Weapons in Korea, and its editors were indicted for sedition after repatriation.
