Seminar paper from the year 2019 in the subject Education - Educational Tests & Measurements, grade: 2,0, University of Cologne (Department education and social sciences Faculty of human sciences), course: Evidenced Based Education, language: English, abstract: „Mit der Lernapp simpleclub werden die Gründer das Bildungssystem revolutionieren, das Lernen der Zukunft neu definieren und die Entwicklung aktiv mitgestalten.“ (Giesecke & Schork, 2021) This statement may appear bold but with around one million of students who are supposed to use the application every month with raising tendency, perhaps not completely unfounded. When the two founders of the application started with producing math learning videos on the broadcast platform “YouTube” they were still students at school themselves. Since this application seems to reach a broad audience and increasing popularity amongst students, it seems possible that its relevance as part of reality of life to students may rise and so perhaps also of teachers as well. The application is praised for their learning videos which are supposed to be easy to access, understand and remember (cf. ibid). This is why this paper is going to deal with this learning application and focuses on an exemplary learning video to investigate to what extent understanding is enhanced or not with the learning methods used. In order to be able to come to meaningful statements the focus has to lie on the feature “Learning video” and therefore other features of the learning application for instance interactive tasks, tests and summaries based on specific topics cannot be dealt with. Therefore, the final evaluation cannot be understood as a fundamental assessment of the application, but rather only be understood in relation to the specifically examined video.
