With encouragement from Father James Hector Joubert, PSS, Elizabeth Lange and three other women professed their vows and founded the Oblate Sisters of Providence. It was the first religious congregation to accept women of color.
Through it all, Mother Mary Lange trusted in God's providence and persevered.
