Through contextual analysis of literary work, a lot of information about society can be obtained. Therefore, this essay takes a closer look at Leslie Silko's story "Yellow Woman". In the few pages of the story Silko brings to light a compendium on regard to the voice of a woman. She manages to explore pertinent issues within the historical and cultural setting of the Native American. The relevant matters surveyed include marriage, spiritualism, change, nature, gender, storytelling, resistance, and wisdom incarnate in the elderly Native Americans. The work exposes the social, cultural way of life of the world it is set in. Also, a new historical perspective is given from the eye of the young Pueblo-woman.
