Autorenporträt
I am a 72-year-old woman with a dream. I was born in San Juan Puerto Rico and lived there until I was 27 years old when I came to Mainland USA. I am a wife; my husband and I have been married for 41 years. I am a mother of two outstanding women. I am a grandmother of two and a great grandmother of five. I retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after serving 20 years, ten of which I served as a Special Agent with the Coast Guard Investigative Service. I was the first Hispanic female to become a Special Agent with the CGIS. After my retirement from the Coast Guard, I did many things, but one of my proudest was that on April 1, 2014, I co-founded Tu Casa Latina, a non-profit organization geared toward helping immigrant women, men and children who are victims of domestic, violence, violent crimes and human trafficking in Northern Nevada, with immigration help and referrals so they can stay in the USA and build a better life. Since I was 9 years old, I have dreamed of being a writer. I have published some short stories and poems in various college magazines, and also some of my poetry was published in Nuestro Magazine. I studied History and Theater at the University of Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico and Sociology at George Mason University in Virginia. My favorite book is Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel Cervantes, but I love to read books Patricia Cornwell, I think I have read all her books. I also enjoyed reading Sydney Sheldon Mystery Books. I read them all and I enjoyed their fast passes. I started writing at the age of 9, as a way to express how I felt, I continued to write all my life. Most of the school plays at my school were mine, and I always thought about writing. And I have had several short stories and poems published in different magazines. I also loved reading the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories. The only advice I have for aspiring writers is to never give up, dreams do come true, you just have to go on.
