Autorenporträt
Joy Driskell Baklanoff, a native a Jackson, Alabama, has a Master of Arts in Anthropology and a Doctor of Philosophy both from The University of Alabama. Her post-doctoral work focuses on Diabetes Education. She has worked as an educator for the past 29 years in the southeastern United States and Latin America. Her work on Latin America includes conducting a statewide conference for teachers about Latin American culture and speaking in Merida at a Governor's Anniversary Conference on Yucatan and Alabama. Presently she works privately as an education consultant and writer. Dr. Baklanoff has had two monographs published as well as numerous professional and popular articles, several of which are about Yucatan. She is listed in, among others, Who's Who in American Medicine and Healthcare, Notable 2,000 Women in America and Who's Who in the World. Her volunteer work includes service as a VISTA. Dr. Baklanoff enjoys international travel and sailing with her husband, Dr. Eric Baklanoff, and daughter, Ana-Maria.
