Mya De'Ann was born in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in Flint, Michigan. She was a bit of a late bloomer as an adult and couldn't find her place in life. She began to attend college and earn her bachelor's degree. Working several years in the medical field and graduating from college with high honors, Mya still felt a void in life and wanted to fulfill her true passion. After a near-death experience, that was confirmation. Mya started her own beauty consultant business, "The Beauty Box Boutique," to help inspire women of any age with self-afflicting diseases and acceptance, teen bullying, and life tragedies. After establishing her business, Mya continued to write short stories, just as a hobby. She gave one of her stories to her brother to read, and he was quite impressed by it. He stressed multiple times of such a good read this story was to him. "My brother encouraged me to pursue my dream and from that day forward we decided to publish my first novel, Disturbance," which later turned into a series.
