When one reads stories about lawyers they inevitably involve a fight for justice. They pose serious questions involving important social and moral dilemmas. They resemble heroic battles of good against evil: the wrongly accused winning their freedom, or the heartless corporation getting their comeuppance. But while these lawyers hog the headlines and dominate the library shelves, they don't tell the whole story. For every lawyer fighting the system, saving a client from impending doom, or arguing a million-dollar lawsuit, there are a hundred others wrestling at the other end of the spectrum. This is their story… For Alex, passion is a dirty word. There is no passion in arguing with a Mr Whippy Driver about the cause of a mundane traffic accident. Just irritation. Just an inconvenient obstacle getting in the way of more important things - like coffee. Alex needs to get out. And so, he decides to create a list to record all the jobs he'd rather be doing than law. Now he just needs to find jobs to fill it. Mark Gow is also a young lawyer. But unlike Alex, Mark has ambition. Not content with working as an employed solicitor in a mid-tier firm, Mark yearns to be his own boss and to create an empire to call his own. And he'll do whatever it takes to get it.
