Autorenporträt
As a Fine Art Major at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport, Maggie Susan Russell, is an outstanding, autistic SPED student with a 3.75 GPA. She was on the MGCCC's Vice President's list three times, an Honorary Member of Phi Theta Kappa and the National Business Honor Society. Maggie was the recipient of the Jackson Pollack Art Award in 2017 for being the "most expressive artist," and in 2018, she was awarded the Henri Matisse "Fauvism" Award for her "use of bold colors." She also placed third in the Computer Art Category for Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry, Starry, Night." "Art is my life, and I want to help others with disabilities like mine. The word "Autism" does not define who I am as a person, because I define it through my art. Maggie will be pursuing an "Art Therapy" degree at the university in 2019.
