Pietro is an Italian who lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with his two best friends. The three had moved to Asia ten years before, leaving Milan, Italy and their easy lives. On a train that goes from KL to Singapore, Pietro shares with some strangers a journey that he never would have thought of doing. His two friends died a few days before and he is angry, tired and filled with guilt. Pietro is trying to go back to Italy, getting away from his painful memories and, at the same time, getting closer to the woman who he left there before moving to Asia.

Pietro is suffering from a horrible back pain and is struggling to find the train controller (to validate his ticket) and a doctor (to get some pain killers). At every station he meets somebody new and tells the story about his Asian life. All those memories make him feel desperate, happy, proud and lost at the same time. He thinks about his two dead friends and about the love of his life that he now got back in contact with. She is very sick and wants him back in Italy as soon as possible.
