In this novel, the poet Ali Al-Jarim narrates to us the biography of the aspiring poet Abu Al-Tayeb Al-Mutanabbi, and the machinations that his opponents in Aleppo planned for him, which caused a rift between him and Saif Al-Dawla Al-Hamdani, the Emir of Aleppo, after years of affection. Al-Mutanabbi was forced to flee from Aleppo to Damascus, and did not stay long. He stayed in the Levant, until he traveled to Egypt after Kafur al-Ikhshidid summoned him and tempted him with the rule to which he aspired. After he was praising Saif al-Dawla, who was the Arab king, he praised Kafur, who for him was the non-Arab slave, and a tendency of sadness and pessimism appeared in his poetry. Al-Mutanabbi was afflicted with malaria and his injury was severe, so he confined himself to his room and swam in a turbulent sea of ¿¿delirium. He wrote the poem "The Fever," which would become one of the most wonderful works of Arabic poetry. In it, he mentioned his bad condition in Egypt and his wish to leave it, in a style that would melt the stubborn rocks. However, his loyal friends advised him to regain Cavour's affection, so he responded to them, but then he realized that the gifts that Cavour had given him did not satisfy his ambition. The untamed ruler inherited nothing but hatred from the ruler's inner circle, as he did not entrust him with any administrative or political tasks, as he had hoped. The rift between them lasted for so long that our aspiring poet fled Egypt.
