Produktbeschreibung
For the first time, in this atlas nuclear physicians and radiologists cover the entire hybrid nuclear medicine (PET/CT, SPECT/CT and PET/MRI), based on their own case studies.

The structure in three volumes represents an user friendly guide for interpreting PET and SPECT in relation to co-registered CT and/or MRI.

Three companion volumes with a practical structure in two-page unit offer to the reader a navigational tool, based on anatomical districts, with labeled and explained low-dose multiplanar CT or MRI views merged with PET fusion imaging on the right hand and contrast enhanced CT or MRI on the other side. This new format enables rapid identification of hybrid nuclear medicine findings which are now routine at leading medical centers.

Volume 1
is focused on brain and neck PET imaging, with emphasis on PET/MRI; Volume 2 concerns thorax, abdomen and pelvis, with particular attention on lung and liver segmental anatomy and evaluation of peritoneum. Special chapters on heart, lymph nodes and musculoskeletal system, are collected in the Volume 3.

Each chapter begins with three-dimensional CT and/or MRI views of the evaluated anatomical region, bringing forward sectional tables.

Clinical cases, tricks and pitfalls linked to several PET or SPECT radiopharmaceuticals help to introduce the reader to peculiar molecular pathways and to improve confidence in cross-sectional imaging, that is vital for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

  • Compact, comprehensive, easy to read guide to sectional imaging and multiplanar evaluation of hybrid PET and SPECT
  • Includes 856 fully colored, labeled, high quality original images of axial, coronal and sagittal CT, contrast enhanced CT, PET/CT and/or PET/MRI
  • Displays 200 clinical cases, showcasing both common and unusual findings that nuclear physicians and radiologists could encounter in their clinical practice
  • Costant orthogonal references on 3D images allow orientation on axial, coronal and sagittal views
  • Peculiar aspects of 18 PET and SPECT radiopharmaceuticals, defined by distinctive color scales
  • Terms and descriptions mostly based on Terminologia Anatomica
  • Specific text boxes explain anatomical variants, radiological advices and physiological findings linked to tracer bio-distribution
  • Supports interpretation and report of hybrid nuclear medicine scans
  • For professionals and vocationals

Autorenporträt
Hospital doctor in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics, "Mariano Santo Hospital, Cosenza, Italy. Graduated in Medicine at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata in 2001; Specialization in Radiology in 2005.Dr Calabria is a clinician in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics, "Mariano Santo Hospital, Cosenza, Italy. He graduated in Medicine in 2005 and finished his specialization in Nuclear Medicine in 2010. He was Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging in the Research Institute "Neuromed in Southern Italy from 2010 to 2014; Researcher for the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Southern Italy on hybrid PET/MRI scanner from 2015 to 2017.His specific scientific interest is aimed to deep the knowledge of the physio- pathological features of PET radiopharmaceuticals and their bio-distribution in order to verify further diagnostic applications. Another topic is the fusion of functional and anatomical images and the added value in patient care of hybrid scanners as PET/MRI, PET/CT and SPECT/CT in oncology and neurology.Eugenio Gaudio is Rector of Sapienza University since November 1, 2014. Since April 20, 2020, he is Counselor for the Ministry of University and Research for the health education field and relationships with the National Health Service. From October 2019 to March 2020, Rector Gaudio was President of Civis - A European Civic University, the new European university that brings together ca. 400,000 students and 55,000 faculty and technical-administrative personnel. Prof. Gaudio has a degree in Medicine and Surgery obtained from Sapienza University in 1980 and a master's degree in Internal Medicine (1985). After conducting research on Human Anatomy at Sapienza University from 1983 to 1986, Prof. Gaudio began teaching at the University of L'Aquila in 1987 and served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery from 1997 to 2000. In 2000, Prof. Gaudio returned to Sapienza as a Professor of Human Anatomy and began coordinating the PhD programme in Experimental and Clinical Hepatology (now Experimental and Clinical Hepato-Gastroenterology). Since 2011, Prof. Gaudio has coordinated the degree programme of the International Medical School. From 2008 to 2010, Prof. Gaudio was also Director of the Department of Human anatomy. Since 2010, he has been President of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine and President of the Permanent Conference of Italian Faculties and Schools of Medicine and Surgery. Eugenio Gaudio is the author of over 500 scientific publications on issues addressing liver structure and ultrastructure, experimental and clinical hepatology and microcirculation, most of which have been published in leading international journals.Dr Schillaci is Full Professor of Nuclear Medicine at University of Rome "Tor Vergata" since 2007. He is also Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery from 2013 and Chief at the Nuclear Medicine Department, Tor Vergata University Hospital. Dr Schillaci is a professor of Medicine and Surgery, in TRM, and in several medical specialization schools. Currently the Head of Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging at the University Hospitaat the "Tor Vergata University, and Director of the School of Medicine and Chancellor of the University. Member of the Editorial Board of the Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging and of J Nucl Med, the most prestigious journal in the world in the field of Nuclear Medicine. His scientific field of interest is currently focused on the development of novel PET radiopharmaceuticals and their potential clinical applications in oncology, neurology, cardiology and infectiology, within a scientist's network involving several Italians and Europeans institutions.Recently, the Author also became President of the Italian Association of Nuclear Medicine (AIMN).
