Aruba is an island in the Caribbean Sea, which belongs geologically to South America. The island is located outside the hurricane zone and has a tropical-maritime climate. In the south of the island lies the Arikok National Park, which is home to some popular hiking trails. Although there are no endemic bird species, there are two endemic subspecies, both of which are found in the national park, a Burrowing Owl and a Brown-throated Parakeet. Together with the other Netherlands Antilles (Bonaire and Curaçao), according to BirdLife International Aruba forms an EBA-S (Secondary Endemic Bird Area), because some bird species with restricted range occur here. This multilingual (en, de, es, fr. ja, cn) bird guide introduces the entire bird life of Aruba in colour.
