New Zealand is a country with a large number of introduced animals that threaten and in some cases have already extinct the native avifauna. However, it gives hope that New Zealand is now a leader in the eradication of introduced species. In fact, New Zealand's birdlife is more peculiar than in any other country: nearly half of the native bird species is/was endemic. BirdLife International has recognized six areas as Endemic Bird Areas (EBA-P). In addition to the two main islands, these are the Chatham Islands, the Antipodes, the Auckland Islands and the Snares/Stewart Islands. In other words, practically the entire country is an EBA. Apart from that, New Zealand is one of the best destinations for watching seabirds. This multilingual (en, de, fr, es, ja, cn) bird guide introduces the entire bird life of New Zealnd in colour.
