The Garden Route is a region along the south-western coast of South Africa. It extends from Mossel Bay to the Storm River for 300 km and can be travelled comfortably by the National Route N2. Because of its mild climate, outstanding biodiversity and beautiful landscape it is a major tourist attraction. Ten nature reserves have been established to protect the ecosystems along the Garden Route. In 2017 the Garden Route was added to UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves. Naturally a great variety of bird species can be watched here. This multilingual (en, de, fr, es, ja, cn) bird guide introduces the entire bird life of the Garden Route in colour.
