This book deals with the biography of Badi al-Zaman al-Hamdhani, who is considered the innovator of the art of maqamat. In its chapters, he reviews the political, economic, and literary conditions in which he grew up, and presents the opinions of the writers of his time therein, such as what al-Jahiz said about him: "All those who came after him are his dependents," and Hariri's description of him. He is "the racer of goals and the owner of verses," and he also gives us examples of the literary works left by Al-Hamdhani, such as shrines and letters, immortalized in the library of Arabic literature. Badi al-Zaman al-Hamdhani, whose name is Ahmed bin al-Hussein, was born to an Arab family that settled in Hamadhan in Persia, and to which his lineage goes back. As for the title "Badi al-Zaman," it is due to his genius in literature and the Arabic language, as his first teacher was Professor Abu al-Hasan Ahmad bin Faris, who learned on His hand is linguistics, and he studied under many sheikhs, most notably Sheikh Abu Bakr bin Al-Hussein Al-Farra, and Sheikh Ibn Turkman. Al-Hamdhani's writings were distinguished by his good use of verbal and moral enhancers, such as counterpoint, alliteration, contrast, and verbal synonymy.
