Bardolomy tells the story of a man who travels to the stars in search of happiness and a new home. Earth is flooded, and Europa, his workplace, is a frozen world. After a perilous journey, he finds a world inhabited by intelligent beings that have created a model society. Welcomed by a friendly race of evolved humans engineered by an A.I., he discovers the terrible secret to their survival. The planet has such a hellish climate of storms, torrential rains, solar flares, and searing heat from two suns that the people must hibernate underground during the Burn season. He must either repair his ship and resume a possibly futile quest for a more hospitable planet, or modify his genetic structure and transform into a different species. In addition, by bringing advanced technology and weapons, he awakens an ancient interspecies rivalry that threatens to undermine the harmony of the civilization. Combining philosophical speculation with a gritty survival tale, Bardolomy takes the reader on an escapist ride into the future, and a man's search for identity in an age of manufactured humans.
