Autorenporträt
Some people have asked me how to say my name? The correct pronunciation of my name is (Taw-nee). This seems to be the best way to remember for those who don't know how to say it.

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest for most of my adulthood and have had the privilege of surviving the many recessions in my life by eating beanie weenie soup. My father served in the Air Force for twenty years and one thing he did well and learned as a soldier was how to cook.

We never got rich from the Beanie Weenie Soup, but the effect of beans sure made people take woo-wee note! I love living in the country and have had the opportunity to raise my own alpacas and llamas. I trained them to pack, as I liked to walk the trails of the foothills around the Cascade Mountains. I have a background in graphic design and designed this picture book.

My dad was the artist of our family. Sunday mornings were the best, as my father and I would sit at the breakfast table and read all the comic strips together. After reading the comic strips, I would pull out my pencil and sketch pad, to practice drawing my favorite comic book characters. Just for fun, we invented our own captions to add to our drawings.

In 2019 I had a stroke that I thought was the end of my dream of becoming an author and illustrator. The stroke affected the part of my brain that controlled motor skills like holding a pencil, coordinating hands and eyes, my balance and speech. I had to learn to walk, talk, write and draw again. I told myself with hard work and a positive outlook that I could overcome the challenges of my disabilities.

My recovery didn't happen overnight, but I finally recovered. I will continue to follow my dream of sharing my children's books and being known for my works as a published author. I hope to visit your school or public library for a book signing and read you this story. Enjoy the book!
