Autorenporträt
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the Johannesburg General Hospital on 20 October 1981 to a Portuguese mother and an Angolan father. My love for art started at a young age with illustration and charcoal use in primary school, ages six to twelve, from cars to all type of stills and even coming third place in the ATP tennis competition worldwide. At a secondary school level, I battled largely with the history and theory of art. So science was the alternative. Then in my last year, I decided science wasn't the way and was instructed to do art without theory. That year I was awarded an academic merit from Adrian Boshof for my artworks exhibited at the Johannesburg art studio for my final portfolio. The years after that was tough for my family and I, so had to do the responsible thing and find employment. A couple of years later, I made my way into the graphic design multimedia industry. Then when I got myself semirooted, I decided to do what I love even if it was in a part-time capacity. Now I learn and yearn to learn all that art can offer. As an artist one should look at all forms from charcoal on paper to composing a symphony. All forms have the basic to the master pieces. My art represents my journey through the art world. With the use of modern and old technology learning and creating with different mediums. Each project I take on or embark is a lesson with the mediums I use. Learning how to use them and manipulate them to best represent my emotion and my story of the piece. My influences incorporate the techniques and vision of the old to the modernised and bright contemporary art we see today from Picasso to Pollock. Illustrators such as Glenn Arthur and Joe Fenton. When creating I hope that the viewer can sense certain emotions and feelings through the bright dynamic color from an uncommon color pallets that I use.
