As the story unravels, she falls in love with Lord Crowell, a powerful regent from the House of Basarb and cousin to Prince Vlad. As she embarks on a mysterious and deadly journey, she uncovers Lord Crowells true self.

Gabriela A. Rodríguez is a citizen of the United States who was brought in her early years from Cd. Juarez, a border city to El Paso, TX, by her mother. She is now a semiretired medical assistant after several years of working for a urology practice in El Paso, TX. She finds herself stalked by an apparition that envisions a past life. Then she finds a portrait of an unknown woman who was painted around the sixteenth century by the Flemish painter Sir Anthony Van Dyck. She visited the museum on two separate occasions where the painting was located, and each time, she was told that she resembles the woman on the portrait. That motivates her into writing a fictitious account with the visions of her past life endeavors.
