When tragedy struck so close to home, she wasn't mentally prepared or equipped to handle it. This created a personal whirlwind of buried emotions she had managed to suppress for years. She was raised in a small Southern Baptist Church and had a firm foundation of trusting God and believing that He could still perform miracles. Knowing God as her personal savior and friend kept her from acting on the constant suicidal thoughts haunting her mind. Professional help, time, family, prayer, journaling, creating artwork, and therapy all played an enormous role in her road to recovery. Writing became an emotional outlet and in time evolved into a longing to share her story to help others. Writing has been a hidden passion of hers for years, easily placed on the backburner while raising her children, continuing her education with a master's degree in education.
