The UK's Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government have been responsible for the some of the most radical changes to education policy for many decades. This book will concentrate on changes for children and young people in relation to schools and welfare provision and focuses on the development of Education and welfare policy post 2010, the relationship to previous New Labour agendas and the difficulties in constructing a new policy narrative. It explores the conceptual background of a 'Big Society', used to frame Coalition policy and shows how the underlying spectre of neoliberalism creates both issues for policy attention and undermines ensuing policy solutions.
