Biodiversity in Agricultural Production Systems explores the diversity of agricultural production systems including the geno/phenotype diversity through plant breeding. It collects data on soil space diversity and species richness of microbial communities such as bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nematodes, and Tardigrada. Focusing on lumbricid earthworms as distributors of microbes, it discusses biological soil characteristics and long-term field observation for soil quality assessment; describes the variability in soil enzymes, metabolism, and the release of greenhouse gases; and outlines principles and strategies of order in between interacting molecules, cells, species, and communities.
