Autorenporträt
J. Saint Lore was born the youngest of three, at the dawn of a new decade - 1980 - in Broward County, Florida. His mother a Georgia native and his father of Bahamian descent father. American writer, Craig Napoleon Stafford is J. Saint Lore - a parboil of urban fiction, poetry, and religion. His moniker is a cooked homage to his Pentecostal grandfather, Bishop Joseph Chambler and his love affair with Black folklore. Two rich ingredients that flavor his name. Just as a mid-wife assisted in the birth of his mother, J's mother now acts as a spiritual mid-wife aiding in the birth of his journey into short fiction. Muses like gay, Harlem Renaissance writer, Richard Bruce Nugent, Solomon the Biblical eroticist, and Maya Angelou influence him on a soul level. As an Ifa Priest within the Yoruba tradition. J. Saint Lore has strengthened himself as a creative by watching and listening to the stories unfolding in nature. Spending time with family is paramount as he learns the lessons of what it truly means to be an uncle. Cognac, cigars and chill music plates the meal of his downtempo. J. Saint Lore is yielded to be the Black, gay wordsmith this world needs, giving the next generation of writers a space to thrive.
