Aryn Taylor grew up alongside four siblings struggling to survive with parents whose ideals and personalities clashed with reality. At the start, the family fit well into their community and faith as their mother conjured a delicately crafted persona of piety and success at the expense of her children. No one knew about the living nightmare just next door. A nightmare filled with terror, death, assault, and eventually abduction.

As finances became strained and the carefully nurtured veneer of respectability began to crack, the family retreated into themselves to shut out prying eyes and awkward questions. The dysfunction only deepened with the few members of extended family brought into the fold. Early on, Aryn and their siblings learned to fend for themselves, turning to each other for support as they navigated the precarious terrain of toxic and damaged parents before banding together to escape years of untold abuse.

Aryn Taylor grew up in "The Land of Steady Habits," Connecticut and etched out a contrasting childhood among peers. Years coming to terms with this upbringing laid the foundation for Aryn's drive toward advocacy, art and writing. Aryn considers friends and chosen family to be most important.
