Essay from the year 2022 in the subject Theater Studies, Dance, grade: alumna, Istanbul Aydin University (Art and Science), course: British Drama, language: English, abstract: This essay intends to provide a brief history of both Renaissance and Restoration and also compare them through the lens of distinctive British playwrights and plays. Renaissance period in England appeared in 1558 when Queen Elizabeth I came to the throne and continued until the end of Jacobean period. Because the period prioritizes wisdom and human thought, plenty of phenomenons changed and developed. Restoration period, however, occured in 1660, when Charles I was hanged and Charles II succeded the throne, restoring the monarch. Additionally, there occured many changes in British drama.
