This book deals with the study of the foundations upon which the novel is built. It is clear that these foundations cannot be limited to an example of a single novel, regardless of its importance. Accordingly, he divided the novel into preliminary sections in order to make it easier to identify, and he was not concerned only with one type of structure, but rather with several types, and he addressed the laws that operate in each of them, and created the aesthetic justification for those laws. He tried to show that these laws in all their manifestations stem from a general necessity and are guided by a general principle. The author emphasizes that the laws of the novel and the laws of imaginative creativity in prose are not subject to the writer's control, and he may not know them. The important thing is that he should keep it in mind. Theories written about them may help him, or they may hinder him, as does ignorance of them, because there is no means, no matter how ingenious, by which a writer can fundamentally modify these laws.
