This book questions how effective the circulation of US-originated knowledge was: regarding the Italian-American exchange, identifying what was exported from America is as interesting and significant as recognizing what was received or rejected. This investigation into the Italian-American exchange in architecture and planning is situated in the larger context of post-war dissemination and diffusion of American cultural models.

Paolo Scrivano is Assistant Professor of History of Modern Architecture at Boston University. His research focuses on the architecture of the twentieth century with a specific interest for the postwar years. He is the author, among others, of the volumes Storia di un'idea di architettura moderna. Henry-Russell Hitchcock e l'International Style and Olivetti Builds: Modern Architecture in Ivrea.
