David F. Chang, MD, is a clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco, and has a private practice specializing in cataract surgery in Los Altos, California. Dr. Chang graduated from Harvard College and earned his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School.

As an internationally acclaimed cataract expert, Dr. Chang has received the highest international awards for cataract surgery from the American Academy of Ophthalmology ([AAO] Kelman Lecture), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery ([ASCRS] Binkhorst Medal), the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (Lim Medal), the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (Award of Excellence), the United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (Rayner Medal), the Indian Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society (Gold Medal), the Italian Society of Ophthalmology (Strampelli Medal), and the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (Gregg Medal). He is the 2014 recipient of the Jose Rizal International Medal, the highest international award from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

Serving as president in 2012, Dr. Chang is on the executive board of ASCRS, the largest international specialty organization for cataract and refractive surgeons. He also chaired the AAO's national committee, which writes the clinical guidelines for cataract surgery that are used in the United States and in many foreign countries. Dr. Chang is co-chair of the ASCRS Foundation, and serves on the medical advisory board of 2 global humanitarian organizations: the Himalayan Cataract Project and Project Vision.

Dr. Chang is the author/editor of 4 best-selling books on cataract surgical techniques for ophthalmologists. Mastering Refractive IOLs: The Art and Science covers advanced lens implants, such as multifocal, pseudoaccommodating, and toric lenses, and is considered the most comprehensive textbook on the subject. He has served as Chief Medical Editor of EyeWorld, a leading trade journal that has a global circulation of more than 30,000 ophthalmologists. Dr. Chang is in the current national edition of Best Doctors in America and is listed by Becker's as one of the top 39 ophthalmologists in the United States.

Bryan S. Lee, MD, JD, specializes in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery at Altos Eye Physicians in Los Altos, California. Dr. Lee graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and cum laude from Harvard Law School. He attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, on a full merit scholarship and graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors.

Named one of the "Top 40 Under 40" in ophthalmology in 2015, Dr. Lee completed his ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins. He was selected to receive further training in cornea, cataract, refractive, and glaucoma surgery at Minnesota Eye Consultants, one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country. While there, he was named Fellow of the Year by the Vanguard Ophthalmology Society.

Dr. Lee joined Altos Eye Physicians after spending 3 years as a cataract and cornea specialist on the faculty at the University of Washington. He received the Latham Vision Research Innovation Award for his academic pursuits, supervised the resident cornea clinic, and was selected to be the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons Speaker Series chair.

He is a leader in ophthalmology and serves on the Young Eye Surgeons committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as on the Council of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). Dr. Lee served on the Washington and Maryland state eye society executive boards and is the secretary of the Vanguard Ophthalmology Society.

He has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters and has taught multiple courses to other ophthalmologists. Dr. Lee also serves on the EyeWorld Cornea Section editorial board. His honors have included the AAO Achievement Award, Oliver Schein Research Grant Award, Walter J. Stark Research Grant Award, Maxwell Grand Prize for Excellence in Ophthalmology, and the Danforth and Distinguished Alumni Scholarships. In its first such survey, the international journal The Ophthalmologist selected Dr. Lee as one of the top 40 individuals in ophthalmology under the age of 40.
