Jürgen Schonarth ist gelernter Sparkassenbetriebswirt und Bankfachwirt. Nach einer krankheitsbedingten Arbeitsunfähigkeit 2000 entdeckte er sein schriftstellerisches Talent, das er bereits mit den Werken ¿Die Sizilianische Himmelfahrt¿ (2003) sowie ¿Mysterien der Finsternis¿ (2016) unter Beweis gestellt hat. Neben Fußballreportagen widmet er sich in seiner Freizeit dem Kochen und Schwimmen. Seine Lebenserfahrung und sein breites geschichtliches Wissen sowie das gesellschaftliche Interesse des heutigen Rollstuhlfahrers spiegeln sich in seinen Werken wider, die von tiefgründigen Gedanken zu gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhängen geprägt sind.
