The relationship between party workers and journalists was rarely smooth, although they seemed to have something in common. The same difficult relationship developed between the editor of the regional newspaper Ivan Ivanovich Novoselov and the secretary of the district committee of the party Pavel Aleksandrovich Gavrilov. Fate separated them. Novoselov left journalism and graduated from the Agricultural Institute, decided to return to his native land as the chairman of the collective farm, and Gavrilov was expelled from the district committee with a bang. But one day they met by chance.
