In the history of science fiction writing, or indeed any genre, very few have seen their careers so eagerly watched and then be snatched away by death in their teenage years.
Cloukey made his first sale of a story at age 15 with 'Sub-Satellite'. Already his mind was hard at work on themes of gravity, time and travels to Venus and Mars.
Whilst hard at work on his writing he also entered Haverford College in 1931 to study chemical engineering. Tragically just a few months later he caught typhoid.
Charles Cloukey died on the 28th September 1931 in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. He was 19.
