James a sombre widower in his mid thirties was seemingly content with his life running the "Chartrand" family estate in Yorkshire. And also managing his own successful company. Now he took on a new challenge~writing a book.
Lucy in her twenties, younger sister of Melissa, who was married to Richard, James younger brother. Lucy being temporarily unemployed lived with Melissa and Richard at their house in London, helping to care for their three young children.
Lucy met James at her sisters wedding and from the moment,on that fateful day five years ago, knew she had met the man she wanted to marry. Her regret~her love remained a secret, and from a distance.
James saw Lucy as a nuisance of a girl. On them exchanging one kiss under the mistletoe last Christmas~for James, it had been been a disaster.
James seeing in Lucy's eyes a willingness to take what he would give.
He had nothing to give!
Lucy was remembering their kiss that last Christmas in Moscow, as she journeyed by train with Melissa, and family from London. Lucy was so looking forward to seeing James again, and enjoying a family Christmas with him in Yorshire at his home "Chartrand House". Only for the young family to be torn apart when their train crashed.
James as their guardian took into his care three orphaned children, and Lucy, now seriously injured and homeless.
In a matter of days as Lucy lay in hospital James made her an offer she couldn't refuse!
Marriage!
Why marriage? James, could once she had recovered have employed her as nanny, a role she would have willingly carried out.
Whilst pitying Lucy, James felt the same pull of attraction as last Christmas when he'd kissed her, found he had no regrets on bulldozing her into marriage
Somewhat doubtful, Lucy challenged James, but eventually agreed. 'Yes I will marry you James.' Knowing she would have her love for James to support her and have him as the husband she had always yearned for.
Joined as man and wife, confident their marriage they looked forward to this new begining. Then Lucy informed James she was having his baby, only to experience deep hurt as James turned his back on what they'd had.
Lucy not a girl to give in, and aching to be in her husband's arms once more found a way through the maize. Showing James they had a loving marriage and happy family life.
