Pitt-Brooke takes the reader on 12 journeys, one for each month of the year. Each journey covers the outstanding natural event of that season, such as whale-watching in April, shorebird migration in May, and the salmon spawn in October.

Autorenporträt

A veterinarian and researcher, David Pitt-Brooke writes for a variety of nature and wildlife publications; he received a Canadian Science Writers Association Award for "Outstanding Contribution to Science Journalism." He has also bred falcons, collared caribou, and implanted radios in rattlesnakes. He was an Environmental Education Officer for Parks Canada for ten years. He lives in Tofino, British Columbia, on the edge of Clayoquot Sound.
