Autorenporträt

After spending my life working in a veterinary practice and also breeding and training golden retrievers, I realized how intelligent and gentle they were, and I have always wanted to use their training for some purpose, preferably involving children. I heard about the "Story Dogs" program and thought, my dogs would fit into the program very well. "Story Dogs" is a volunteer organization where people with their trained dogs go into schools and do a one-on-one session with "target" children to help with their reading. The children ask many questions about the dogs, so this is where I came up with the idea to write a small book for them, targeting the seven-to-eight-year-olds, about one of my dog's journey from birth to becoming a "story dog." I am hoping this book will be read in many of the schools, where the dogs go to help out and that it will help children to come to love reading.
